Two Story Addition for Growing Family

My clients, a Family of 5, was quickly outgrowing their 2 bedroom single story home in El Cerrito. The project was to simply add two bedrooms. After thoroughly examining options for the best use of space for the cost, the final solution was to build over the existing master suite. This allowed reuse of the existing foundation and first floor framing. A Use Permit was required to add the bedrooms without increasing covered parking. The style of the addition & remodel blends with the existing modern ranch style home and is set back from the sidewalk so that the scale of the addition is hardly perceptible from the street. In addition to the second story for the 2 new bedrooms, the remodel included a new family room with a deck. The master suite-bedroom and bathroom were also completely remodeled.
